About Us

History

The very first Central Peninsula Garden Club meeting was on April 10th, 2007 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building. The founder of the club was Marion Nelson, and she continues to be a member to this day. “It started off with a bang,” Nelson said. “We had 100 people at the very first meeting.”

The club had grown to a membership of 117 members by September of 2007. What started as a small, volunteer club over a decade ago has grown into a non-profit committed to educating and exchanging information about gardening throughout the Peninsula. Gardening in Alaska presents some unique challenges, and CPGC welcomes all, including short-term visitors.

Our club Historian Cathy Haas holds the historical books which contain important news clippings, photos of various garden tours, workshops, and other club events. We've assembled an online trip down Memory Lane of some of our best photos through the years. Take a look!

The 2024 CPGC Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, June 8, 10:00 a.m. until plants are sold out (usually about an hour).

Location:

To be determined

Soldotna, AK 99669

Plant Sale donations are welcome!  Plant extra 6-packs of flowers or vegetables; divide and pot up some of your perennials.  The fact that we sell out so quickly every year means we could easily sell many times the number of donated plants.
