**Reminder, 2012 Dues renewal - $20 Individual, $30 Family. ***FEBRUARY PROGRAM Tuesday February 14th, 7pm. TOMATO INFATUATION + HERBS. This Valentine’s Day program features, 3 local culinary experts who will demonstrate several special tomato and herb creations. Our chefs, and club members, are Kim Foley, retired KCHS Home Ec Teacher and Funky Monkey chef, Susan Bradley, owner of Gourmet Garden located next to River City Books, and award winning Warren Finley, BBQ competition chef. 'Tis the season for tomato dreams, seed orders and fond memories of last summer’s tastiest varieties. To get us over this cold mid winter hump, join in the Favorite Tomato Talk about varieties and get some great ideas from these chefs about utilizing tomatoes along with various herbs many of us grow in the summer. Meeting Time: 7PM -Please car pool if possible. -Location: Cook Inlet Aquaculture Assn. building on K-Beach Rd, between KSRM and Bridge Access Road intersection. -Program is open to the public. Visitors welcome. -Refreshments and sometimes door prizes. -Membership forms always available at <www.cenpengardenclub.org/membership2011.pdf ================ March Program *** Tuesday, March 13th, 7pm, Alaska’s Ag Rock Star, Tim Meyers from Bethel with an Update on his Amazing Food Production, Storage Facilities and so much more. Tim has made headlines like no other grower in the state because of his sustainable food production/distribution/storage practices. TIM will also be one of the presenters at the Alaska Botanical Garden (ABG) Conference, on March 10th, prior to our program on March 3rd. CPGC and the Homer Garden Club are helping ABG with Tim’s transportation. In return, after the ABG conference, he’ll spend a few days in Homer and 3-4 days in our area, visiting hoop house owners to share ideas. Thanks to Don Thompson for hosting Tim. They were/are a wealth of information on growing almost anything. Thanks again for sharing your considerable knowledge with all who attended that program. If you want a $3 DVD of the program, contact Linda Dunn, 262-4465 ================= January Board meeting high points: Welcomed new board members, realized we goofed on the election by not including Don Thompson and Renae Wall’s names, voted to join the Soldotna Chamber for the joint, one day garden tour promotion in August, noted the CPGC annual account audit will take place shortly, voted for officers and assigned committee chair positions, discussed the Landscape Architect planning event, discussed September visit of fruit growing expert, Dr. Bob Bors from Canada (this is a cooperative effort with the Pioneer Fruit Growers & the Homer GC) and reviewed programs and dates for this year’s events. Next up, KPC’s Earth Day event-April 19th, and the Home Show booth April 28-29. Volunteers welcome and needed to take a shift or two.
